Across the country, college coaches spend countless hours evaluating more and more high school athletic prospects through video, otherwise known as game-films.

Social media and video content has changed the way in which athletes are being discovered. In high school recruiting alone, there has been an increase in video profiles made for hopeful young athletes.

Athletic prospects use popular social sites such as Youtube, Facebook and Hudl.com to upload important game-film highlights. Hudl.com is a video analysis tool for athletes, teams, and coaches that is available on both computers and mobile devices. Best advice is to keep your highlight video under five minutes and be sure to lead with your best plays in the first couple minutes.

These game-films are one of the best ways in which high school athletes are evaluated. Most large schools have videographers documenting each game, however I encourage parents and friends to be sure your superstar gets filmed!

Other ways of discovery include training events held throughout the country, sponsored by big name companies. For instance, brands like Under Armour and Nike sponsor games and competitive events.

According to Wikipedia, The Under Armour High School All-America Game is a high school football all-star game typically held in early January in the U.S. state of Florida created to spotlight the nation’s top high school seniors. The game was first played on January 5, 2008, and has been played annually at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The game is sponsored by Under Armour and enjoys a national audience thanks to broadcast partner ESPN.

Most kids won’t be getting a Division 1 scholarship, but the good news is there are Division 2 and 3 scholarship funds available. This is where recruiting coaches like me come into play. Recruiting coaches are third party facilitators who help guide and council the student athlete, and the parent, helping to make it a seamless process.

NCSA is the largest recruiting company that has the formula to success in helping navigate the competitive scholarship market. They have the ability to get the student’s custom profile in the hands of Division 1, 2, and 3 coaches and schools who are looking for your skills. With the help from a Head Scout/Coach like me, and a dash of some modern technology, we are now able to help make the college decision making process fun with life changing results.

NCSA Athletic Recruiting believes in the transformational power of sport. NCSA’s network connects millions of student-athletes to approximately 50,000 college coaches. The NCSA team includes over 300 former college and pro athletes offering personal guidance through the recruiting process and enabling students to find and afford the right college. Since 2000, NCSA has helped more than 60,000 student-athletes commit to colleges with awards totaling over $3 billion in scholarship and aid.
