That’s my personal motto, and the way I strive to live my life!

As a Head Scout and Social Media Blogger for NCSA, I thought my readers and the student athletes with whom I work would like to know a bit more about me, Coach Chris Burget.

At 21, I was a 265 pound starting defensive tackle for the University Arizona with a promising chance of turning pro. By the time I was 22, due to a career ending knee injury, I was a young man uncertain about my future.

As the years of my life begin to pass, I found myself working in some incredible, high level jobs including personal training, real estate and social media. While each of these careers were financially lucrative, the demands of these industries made it difficult to achieve the work and personal life balance I desired.

By the time I was 40, I became highly reflective about both my past and what I wanted my future to look like. In January of 2007, I left a high paying real estate job to relocate to the Sun Valley, Idaho area. I bought a cabin outside of town with my front yard consisting of the Big Lost River and a view of the Lost River Mountain Range.

After almost a decade of working as a social media professional, I made the fortunate decision in early 2015 to work for NCSA as a Head Scout and Social Media Blogger. After spending two weeks of training in Chicago, I was primed to start connecting with families and student athletes, helping them to change their lives by guiding them thru the complex college recruitment process.

Specifically, what I do most is help student athletes connect with scholarship opportunities. NCSA has helped more than 60,000 student-athletes reach the next level and receive more than $4 billion in scholarships, aid and grants. NCSA is all about educating student- athletes about the recruiting process. We host more than 2,000 recruiting seminars at camps, combines and high schools every year. And 90 percent of our student- athletes have committed to play college athletics in 29 different sports.

To be of service daily to these young athletes, while simultaneously enjoying one of the most beautiful areas and lifestyles in the country has allowed me to fulfill my personal mantra of, “Live where you love and love what you do.”

Thru video conferencing calls via Skype and the internet, I am able to have face to face conversations with both parents and student athletes with the sole goal of helping them reach their peak athletic and academic potential via scholarship.

Hands down, this is the happiest and most fulfilling time of my life. My days start typically with a hike or a quad ride into the woods, followed by a personal commitment to physical training and mental growth, followed by conference calls that can be life changing for the families and athletes I help.

Sports teaches an athlete how to face many challenges and behind every great athlete one can typically find a great coach. For me, I’m truly grateful to be serving in a coaching role as a Head Scout and Social Media Blogger for NCSA, a company that believes deeply in helping others achieve their dreams.

Coach Chris
